Oregon recycling facility catches fire early Thursday

Navarre was shut down for some time to allow crews access to hoses.

OREGON, Ohio — A fire broke out at an Oregon, Ohio recycling facility overnight, a stubborn blaze crews battled for some time. 

According to Oregon Firefighters on scene, the fire broke out at Gateway Recycling on Dearborn near Navarre overnight. The stubborn fire kept crews busy as they worked to put it out.

Oregon police crews shut down Navarre Avenue for a time while they accessed hoses. As of 4 a.m., there was still some smoldering cardboard inside the warehouse, fire crews told WTOL 11. 

Firefighters could be seen standing on top of the building's roof, trying to ventilate the structure.

Jerusalem Township Fire Department also responded to the scene. 

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. It's also unknown if anyone was injured.
