COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Franklin County grand jury indicted a woman accused of killing a 5-year-old boy and putting his body in a sewage drain earlier this month.
Pammy Maye, 48, was indicted on one count of aggravated murder, three counts of tampering with evidence and one count of abuse of a corpse.
Franklin County Municipal Court records say Maye suffocated Darnell Taylor around 11 p.m. on Feb. 13. A few hours later, Maye's husband called 911 saying his wife told him Taylor was no longer alive. During the call, Maye allegedly held her hand over her husband's mouth and said she "had a plan," according to court records. Maye then abruptly left the home and an AMBER Alert was issued for her and Taylor.
Maye was found wandering in a nightgown in a Cleveland suburb on Feb. 15 and authorities took her into custody.
Court records say she told authorities where they could find Taylor's body, which was found by police about three hours later on Marsdale Avenue in south Franklin County.
Speaking at a court hearing last week, Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Tyler McCoy said Maye was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and had exhibited possessive and controlling behavior in the past.
Maye had legal custody of Taylor. His grandparents say they used to take care of him, but it became too much to handle.
His grandparents said Maye was a close friend and she gained legal custody of him last year.
Maye is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
