TOLEDO, Ohio — A home in central Toledo was declared a total loss early Thursday morning after it caught fire.
Toledo Fire & Rescue crews responded to the 1700 block of Wellesley Drive about 1:30 a.m. A home was engulfed in flames, but the family was able to make it outside without injury. A dog was also saved.
Toledo fire says the fire started in the basement and firefighters had to take a defensive stance to fight the flames. The home was declared a total loss and will be torn down.
