'There's everything that I worked for for 42 years, sitting right there, gone.' Hancock County family displaced by fire Friday

The Snyder family said the blaze cause serious damage, forcing them from their home.

FINDLAY, Ohio — A Findlay-area family is struggling after a fire devastated their home Friday morning.

Shadd Snyder, who lives in the house along County Road 248 in Washington Township with his four children, said one of his daughters alerted him to the fire when it began around 11 a.m. Thursday.

"She comes screaming through the house, 'Dad the house is on fire," he said. "And I come out of the bathroom and hit the kitchen and it was smoke and you couldn't see nothing."

The family escaped the house safely, but now have no home, he said.

"There's everything that I worked for for 42 years, sitting right there, gone,"  Snyder said.

Information on the cause of the fire or the extent of damage to the home was unavailable Friday night.

The family plans to stay with relatives while they figure out a more permanent housing arrangement, they said.

In the meantime, they are asking for help, Snyder said.

"I've never reached out for anybody's help I've always helped everybody,"  Snyder said.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family. Click here if you would like to help.
