MONROE, Mich. — A long line of law enforcement and first responder vehicles passed under two huge flags in Monroe County on Saturday afternoon to honor an animal control officer who died in the line of duty earlier in June.
Monroe County Sheriff's Animal Control Officer Darrian Young, died in an accident on June 4.
The caravan started at the South Monroe Plaza Shopping Center on S. Dixie Hwy. and ended at the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
Young was driving a Monroe County Animal Control Division vehicle on Raisinville Rd. when a driver ran a red light and hit her and another vehicle.
Police say the woman responsible for the accident may have been intoxicated at the time and also may have been involved in an earlier hit and run accident.
