SWANTON, Ohio — A spokesperson for the 180th Ohio Air National Guard confirmed at 11:18 a.m. that an in-flight incident with a fighter jet approaching Toledo Express Airport ended safely.
Sgt. Shane Hughes with the 180th says one of the F-16s was doing routine training at a range in Michigan when the crew experienced what is called a “hung gun.” Essentially, the pilot pulled the trigger and nothing happened.
The jet returned to Toledo Express and landed safely. Engineers are now looking into what caused the problem.
Multiple emergency crews responded to the airport.
