Did you love the Italian Bowl? It's coming back.

The championship game for Italy's league of American football teams will be played in Toledo.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Italian Bowl is headed back to Toledo.

The championship game for the Italian Federation of American Football -- which was played in Toledo in July of this year -- will be back, organizers have announced.

American fans enjoyed last summer's mini Italian invasion when the Parma Panthers beat defending champs Firenze Guelfi in what marked the first Italian Bowl played overseas in more than 40 years. More than 12,000 tickets were sold for the game at the University of Toledo Glass Bowl.

The 2024 Italian Bowl will be June 29, 2024, at the Benelli Stadium in Ravenna, Italy.

Then, in 2025, the game will return to Toledo. Organizers are hopeful for another successful visit to the states.

The Italian Federation of American Football played its first season in 1980. CONI (the Italian National Olympic Committee) entrusted FIDAF with the official mandate to promote football in Italy and regulate the legitimacy of all games played during the regular season, playoffs and finals.

Today, FIDAF has about 100 affiliated teams with more than 10,000 male and female athletes who compete in tackle and flag football leagues within a spectrum of various age brackets.
