Governor DeWine appoints new Toledo Municipal judge

James Anderson will take the seat formerly held by Judge Amy Berling, who retired earlier this year.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has appointed James (Jim) Anderson to the Toledo Municipal Court, a position that will take effect after the new year.

According to a press release from DeWine's office, Anderson will take the seat formerly held by Judge Amy Berling, who retired in October. Berling, who had served as a municipal judge since 1996, submitted her notice of retirement prior to the completion of her term, which was to last until Jan. 1, 2026.

Anderson will complete the remainder of the unfinished term, but will need to run again for election in November 2025, the governor’s office said.
