Amazon ending janitorial contract, prompting nearly 100 layoffs at Rossford facility

The layoffs will go into effect in March and impact 95 janitorial workers with GDI Services at the Rossford facility.

ROSSFORD, Ohio — Nearly 100 janitorial workers at the Amazon distribution facility in Rossford will be laid off after their contract ends.

GDI Services, the company that provides janitorial and facilities services at a multitude of Amazon locations, said they recently learned that its contract will end and not be renewed.

95 workers at the Rossford facility, one of three Ohio facilities affected, will be laid off. GDI Services said that the employees impacted are not represented by a union and there are no bumping rights for any impacted employees.

The layoffs are expected to take place in March, with the 14-day separation start set to begin on March 5.
