Keith Urban wows fans with last-minute concert in Buc-ee's parking lot

The country music superstar put on a free concert at the Buc-ee's in Athens, AL on Friday, with only a few hours' notice.

ATHENS, Ala. — "It took a little bit of trying to figure out if it was actually true or not," said Jessie Holland. "We found some people that were passing by and said there really is a stage set up there, so here we are."

The here was the Buc-ee's in Athens. The it Holland referred to was a Keith Urban concert. The country superstar released plans for the special impromptu Friday gig just hours earlier across all his social media channels.

It didn't take long for word to travel.

"So random but so awesome," gushed one Instagram user.

"I was at work and we heard it on the radio that there was going to be a surprise concert at Buc-ee's in Athens," said Cindy Wilson. "And I was like, 'Oh my God, it's on my way home. And it's 15 minutes from my house. So I couldn't believe it."

Fans began camping out in the cordoned-off area set up for the concert around 3 p.m.

"Things I love are Buc-ee's and country music. When you put two things together, it's a given," said Joshua Carr.

Photos and video shared to social media Friday and Saturday showed Urban being a real "cut-up" with Buc-ee's staff, even chopping up some brisket while the crew uttered the world-famous call, "Hot brisket on the board!"
