TOLEDO, Ohio — Lucas County Children Services said Thursday an allegation against Christ the King School principal Steve Urbanski is unsubstantiated and "there was no occurrence of child abuse."
The allegation was reported to the Diocese of Toledo on Dec. 2 and Urbanski was placed on administrative leave the following day. Urbanski denied the allegation "which is now proven to be unfounded," Christ the King pastor Dave Nuss said Thursday.
Urbanski immediately returned to full duties as principal after two investigations by LCCS and the Toledo Police Department were completed with no evidence of misconduct remaining.
The allegation did not involve a current student at Christ the King.
Urbanski "is an employee in good standing, up to date on his required child protection training, current with his Ohio Department of Education licensure requirements, and this is the only such allegation which has ever been received in his regard," Nuss said.
In the initial press release about the allegation, the diocese said "any allegation of sexual abuse of a minor by a priest, deacon, staff member or volunteer affiliated with the Diocese of Toledo should first be reported to local law enforcement where the abuse is alleged to have occurred. Please also report any such allegation to the Diocesan Victim Assistance Coordinator at 419-214-4880."
Christ the King assistant principal Angela Rosengarten temporarily assumed additional administrator responsibilities while Urbanski was on administrative leave.
