PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Santa may have parked his sleigh back at the North Pole until next year, and most of the gifts under the tree may be unwrapped, but just because most of the holiday season has wrapped up doesn't mean the spending is.
WTOL 11 spoke to business owners and shoppers on Dec. 26 about their post-holiday shopping at Levis Commons.
Local businesses reaped the benefits of the holidays, like home goods store Lily's. Owner Amy Miller said she had seen a solid turnout since the holiday items hit the shelves on Nov. 1.
"Christmas is our busiest season," Miller said. "People are in here and they're buying everyday gifts as well as Christmas stuff, so we are just busy."
Even though Christmas is over, she said the festivities really never end.
"December is fabulous with gift cards. January and February, everyone is cashing them in so it's kind of a different animal there," Miller said.
Just down the street, a sweet tooth led people to Lisa Harris's "Taste of Heaven's Chocolate" throughout the past month.
"We did so many corporate orders and just people coming in to get their box of chocolates as gifts, it's been wonderful," Harris said.
The season brings some fresh faces into the store for a taste of local love. A lot of Taste of Heaven's business comes from customers being out and about shopping at other area stores.
Levis Commons Security Operations Manager Ben Scorfield said he has noticed a steady flow of shoppers, and not just during the holidays either.
"I feel like it's been steady all year long," he said. I haven't noticed any drop-off or anything, people just seem to keep showing up here."
