OHIO, USA — The 13th annual "Lights for Lives" law enforcement campaign saw 449 citations issued in northwest Ohio during the 36-hour operation, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
OSHP's Findlay District, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies from Williams, Fulton, Lucas, Defiance, Henry, Wood, Putnam, Paulding, Hancock, Van Wert, Allen and Hardin Counties, said officers stopped 894 vehicles for traffic violations. The campaign took place from 6 p.m. on Nov. 25 to 6 a.m. on Nov. 27.
Among the hundreds of traffic stops, OSHP said eight impaired drivers were taken off northwest Ohio roadways. Twenty-six citations were for safety belt violations.
"Roadway safety remains a shared responsibility and a commitment to safe driving habits can help ensure safer roadways for everyone," OSHP said in a press release.
