Little wrestlers treat Bowling Green fans to some big-time fun

The Micro Wrestling Federation thrilled a big crowd on Saturday in BG. And if you missed it, they'll be back.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — A big-time wrestling event featuring some of the littlest wrestlers you might ever see was at the Wood County Fairgrounds in Bowling Green on Saturday night.

The Micro Wrestling Federation is a full-scale wrestling show featuring an entire cast under five feet tall. But don’t let their small size fool you.

People in BG were treated to an action-packed athletic event every bit as exciting as the WWE.

“It’s going to be heels versus babies, girls versus girls, nails flying, hair getting tangled and pulled, all kinds of stuff,” said performer Hotlanta before the show.

The Micro Wrestling Federation, or MWF, is the subject of Discovery Channel's show Big Little Brawlers.

Some of the performers who were in Bowling Green, like Ivar the Micro, are featured in the television show.

MWF is based out of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and puts on over 400 shows per year.

And it’s hard work.

“We do about two hours of training a day, and they you count 6 hours of travel-time, making sure you sleep and keep the crowd happy,” said Hotlanta.

And if the looks on the faces in the crowd are any indication, they do their job well.

The growing organization recently started touring in three groups: Micro One, Micro Too, and The Microtorium of Pigeon Forge.

People in Bowling Green on Saturday saw wrestlers from Micro Too, which includes 10 performers.

The performers are grateful to have a job that allows them to entertain people, stay in shape, and have fun.

“It’s just amazing to just have a job that fits us, because there’s not a lot of jobs that accommodate to our needs, so it’s kind of cool to have a job that supports us and how we do it,” said wrestler Lid’l Lex. “We’re the same people at the end of the day, we’re just smaller. So we want to prove to people that we’re just like everybody else.”

Anyone who missed the show has two more chances to catch all the action in northwest Ohio.

Micro Too will be in Rossford at Reset on June 27. They'll also be coming back to the Wood County Fairgrounds on July 31, from 7-9 p.m. Click on the links to RSVP.
