Father, son duo each bowl perfect 300 in same game

Father and son Kevin and Conner Welsh each bowled a 300 on Feb. 15 at Jugs Bowling Center in west Toledo.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Getting a 300 in bowling is like reaching the summit of the tallest mountain — some will never be able to reach that number, while others do it quite often.

For father-and-son duo Kevin and Conner Welsh, however, they were able to do it together.

Both bowled the perfect scores on Feb. 15 in a league tournament match at Jugs Bowling Center.

"First thing I did was I ran up and embarrassed him, and then of course I gave him a big ol' hug," said Kevin after bowling the 300.

"I thought I was gonna mess up before he did because I don't do good under pressure, but after the 12th ball, it was pretty good," Conner said.

It was the first time in their lives that they were able to accomplish this feat, but Kevin knew from the day Conner was born that he would have a special talent.

"I think he's one of the toughest anchors," Kevin said. "He should be bowling anchor whenever he bowls, because he's probably one of, if not, the toughest of his generation."

Regardless of whether you are an amateur or a seasoned veteran, the consistent will to want to get better always remains.

"Once you're raised in a bowling alley, the whole vibe just stays the same and it just keeps going and going," said Conner. "Then you just have fun. It's all about having fun."

"He's always wanting to see what I shot whenever I do bowl, so he can try and beat me," said Kevin. "Of course, the old man still gets him."
