Local moment of silence to be held at 2 p.m. in memory of George Floyd

Community members are invited to join in virtually as Toledo's mayor, city council, Lucas County commissioners and local faith leaders observe the moment.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, Toledo City Council, the Lucas County Commissioners, local pastors, local faith leaders, and others will hold a moment of silence for George Floyd at 2 p.m., today, June 4.

It will also be streamed live on the city’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/cityoftoledo.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine called for a statewide moment of silence on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in remembrance of Floyd.

The time of the moment of silence coincides with the start of Floyd's memorial service in Minnesota. Floyd died under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer last week.
