TOLEDO, Ohio — Bubba's 33 in Toledo is partnering with Home For Our Troops to help veterans this Independence Day.
This partnership is 20 years strong, with the organization helping build customized homes for veterans who were severely injured after 9/11.
Leaders at the restaurant say that the owner of Bubbas is a strong supporter of the military, so there is no better reason to start this initiative on the July 4.
Kaylee Clark, the Marketing Manager for Bubbas 33, shares why this year is special.
"As they make these home suitable and manageable with them covering the cost and this year is their 20th, so Bubba's is going extra hard and we are super proud to announce that we are going to be fully funding the 400th home this year," said Clark.
The partnership has raised over $2 million since the it began.
To commemorate this occasion, Bubba's is covering the total cost of a build for this year's home, which is being donated to Marine LCpl Alberto Flores Jr. and his family in New Braunfels, Texas.
He was severely injured while serving in Iraq, resulting in the amputation of his right leg above the knee.
Clark says it's an honor to support our heroes who contribute to building strong communities.
"On a personal level, we have many, myself included. We have a lot of staff members who have a tie directly to a veteran or know someone who is a veteran, which is, in most cases, anybody, and it's super important for us to give back to that community," said Clark.
To participate, you can visit Bubba's 33 and purchase a "patriot burger."
For every patriot burger purchased, $1 goes to Home For Our Troops. The partnership runs until July 31.
