Local school districts reinvent ways of teaching during COVID-19 pandemic

The principal at Robinson Elementary has written a book on how leadership affects a student's academic success.

TOLEDO, Ohio — School districts in the area are reinventing how children learn away from the classroom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. James Jones, the principal at Robinson Elementary School in central Toledo stresses the importance of connecting with students to produce positive academic results.

Jones said good leadership and personal connections with students can help them stay on track.

"No I didn't know it was going to be a pandemic, but I knew that we would have to have built very positive relationships and we have to have a certain bit of cultural competency when we're dealing with students that are diverse, such as students in Toledo Public, or Springfield, or anywhere these parts," said Jones.

Jones has a book called "Transformational Urban Principal Leadership" which is available on Amazon.

The book focuses on how leadership plays an essential role in a student's academic achievements.
