TOLEDO, Ohio — Lucas County Care Canine & Control (LC4) will be hosting an adoption special and toy drive from Dec. 12 through Dec. 19.
During the special, LC4 will waive all adoption fees for dogs six months and older. In return, the agency is asking adopters to donate to WTOL's Gift of Joy to help benefit Lucas County Children Services (LCCS).
All toy donations must be new and unwrapped. LCCS said they have a specific need for donations of baby dolls representing children of all races and ethnicities.
“This adoption event is a wonderful way for our community to come together and spread joy both to dogs in need of a loving home and the children in the care of Lucas County Children Services who need a little extra holiday cheer,” the Lucas County Commissioners said jointly in a press release.
Eligible adopters must have a dog license that is valid through Dec. 31, 2025. Dog licenses are $25 in Lucas County.
LC4 said it has over 80 dogs and puppies ready for adoption. Dogs adopted from the shelter are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and are in healthy conditions. The public is welcome to visit them at at 410 S. Erie St. during adoption hours. More information regarding LC4 adoption's can be found here.
