TOLEDO, Ohio — With the season of giving rapidly approaching, the American Red Cross is urging Lucas County residents to give back to their community by donating blood.
The American Red Cross Blood Donation Center in Toledo will be hosting blood donation opportunities for community members starting Dec. 1.
Residents can schedule an appointment by visiting the Red Cross website or utilizing the Red Cross Doner App.
To celebrate the holiday season, donors that give blood during the month of December will be entered into a contest to win a holiday prize package. 12 winners will have a chance to win a $1,000 Amazon gift card and a 65-inch Omni QLED Amazon Fire TV. Anyone who donates blood between Dec. 1 and Dec. 17 will automatically receive a $10 Amazon gift card.
To be eligible to donate blood, individuals must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and must be in generally good health.
All donation locations will require donors to present a blood doner card, driver's license or two other forms of identification at their appointment.
The American Red Cross will be at additional locations across Lucas County to facilitate organized blood drives on select dates throughout the month of December:

- Dec. 8, 2023: Noon - 5 p.m., The Intersection Church, 1640 South Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio
- Dec. 6, 2023: 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., ProMedica Flower Hospital, 5200 Harroun Road, Sylvania, Ohio
- Dec. 6, 2023: 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Mercy St Vincent Medical Center, 2213 Cherry Street, Toledo, Ohio
