MAUMEE, Ohio — There is less than one month left for the Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District's annual plant sale.

The sale offers a chance to support the local ecosystem and save some money while planning your planting season. All of the trees, shrubs and plants are native and habitat to the Oak Openings region, with numerous options available from the conservation district.

Several hardwood species, flowering shrubs, conifers and evergreens are part of the sale. Seed packets include options like fruit and berries or the native prairie seed packet, which contains seeds from flowers and grasses collected from the region.

"These plants are offered at a low cost to encourage residents to help wildlife, provide soil and water benefits, and improve their properties," a Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) spokesperson said. "Whether it is replacing turf grass with native plants or planting a 100-foot long windbreak on a farm, the Lucas SWCD is proud to offer the trees and planting/maintenance information to area residents in order to be successful."

Orders can be placed online at lswcd-tree.square.site or during business hours at Lucas SWCD's office located at 3350 Hill Ave. Suite K in Toledo. Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted at the office. The sale ends March 29.

Orders must be picked up at the Lucas County Fairgrounds on April 22 from 1-6 p.m., or April 23 between 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

For more information or a copy of the conservation district's spring newsletter, contact the Lucas SWCD's office at 419-893-1966.
