DEFIANCE COUNTY, Ohio — A man was killed and several others were injured after a crash in Defiance County Thursday afternoon.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, James Bailey, 82, of Defiance, was traveling southbound on Independence Road in Richland Township around 4:44 p.m. when he failed to yield at a stop sign, pulled onto US-24 and was struck by a pick-up truck.
He was taken by air ambulance to the hospital where he later died. His passenger, Marcia Bailey, 71, was taken to the hospital by EMS with serious injuries. Her current condition is unknown, according to OSHP.
The three occupants of the pick-up truck were treated for minor injuries and released, OSHP said.
