Man killed in Monroe house fire

Joseph Boylan, 46, was found dead in a home on Donnalee Drive Monday afternoon after succumbing to injuries from the fire. The cause is still under investigation.

MONROE, Mich. — A man died in a Monroe house fire Monday afternoon.

The Monroe Public Safety Department responded to a call of smoke emitting from the roof of a home at about 1:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Donnalee Drive in a residential neighborhood just west of U.S. 24.

Monroe City Fire arrived at the scene shortly after and entered the home, finding Joseph Boylan, 46, unresponsive inside after having succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire, according to the public safety department.

The fire was extinguished but the cause is still under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Adam Zimmerman at (734) 243-7509 or Fire Marshal Chad Hudson at (734) 243-7519, according to the public safety department.
