MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — A Michigan man was pronounced dead Wednesday after crashing his motorcycle into a ditch in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Mark Kropg, 60, of Belleville, Mich., was riding his motorcycle westbound on South Stony Creek Road in Exeter Township Wednesday afternoon when he "failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway, entering the north side ditch," the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Kropg was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries from the crash. The sheriff's office said speed was a factor, and that Kropg was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation, the sheriff's office said.
