TOLEDO, Ohio — Sierah's Law is at work here in northwest Ohio.
Alonzo Irelan of Swanton must now register as a violent offender when he is released from prison for trying to kill his estranged wife.

He tried once by putting a hose from an exhaust pipe in her car and again by throwing gasoline and a lighter on her.
Irelan will serve 17 years for two counts of attempted murder.
Sierah's Law established a violent offender registry in 2019, so victims and police to know where convicted violent offenders live at all times.
The law is named for Sierah Joughin who was murdered by a previous violent offender in 2016.
