TOLEDO, Ohio — Monroe County Sheriff stated that around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, Monroe County Central Dispatch received reports of a robbery that occurred at a Walmart in Monroe.
A male suspect is accused of stealing around $3,000 in merchandise and assaulting a Walmart employee when being confronted, according to the sheriff.
Authorities state the suspect then fled the scene with the merchandise to a vehicle operated by a female who drove southbound on North Telegraph Road.
When reaching the intersection of South Telegraph Road and South Custer Road, law enforcement state that they attempted to stop the vehicle, however the suspects continued, traveling at high speeds.
Investigators report deputies were able to successfully slow down the suspects by using Stop-Sticks to deflate their tires near South Telegraph Road and Sterns Road.
Deputy reports indicate that not long after reaching Toledo, the suspects stopped near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Detroit Avenue and were taken into custody.
Toledo police said in a report they were dispatched to assist in the pursuit. After the pursuit ended, police identified the vehicle as having a stolen license plate.
The two suspects, identified in the police report as 39-year-old Julia Sulewski and 39-year-old Jorge Pozo, were held at Lucas County Jail.
