BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities are investigating a deadly single-motorcycle crash that happened Friday afternoon in Monroe County.
Michigan State Police troopers responded to the crash around 3:57 p.m. Friday at U.S. Turnpike Road and Roberts Road in Berlin Township.
An early investigation determined the crash involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 55-year-old man from Redford who was traveling northbound on U.S. Turnpike, according to Michigan State Police.
The driver lost control and went off the road, overturned and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and died at the scene, MSP said.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, however, MSP did not say what may have caused the driver to lose control.
The driver's name has not been released.
The crash is under investigation. MSP has requested anyone with additional information to contact 734-242-3500.
