MONROE CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported a serious injury crash that occurred on Laplaisance Road near Lighthouse Road, which eventually resulted in the death of the motorcyclist on Aug. 5.
According to investigators, the crash happened at 9:12 p.m. on Saturday, July 9.
Officers state that 51-year-old James R. Miller from Monroe, Mich. was driving a red Yamaha motorcycle west on Laplaisance Road when the vehicle drove off the roadway and into a guardrail.
Investigators report that Miller was then ejected from the motorcycle and came to a halt on a nearby embankment.
Miller was transported to a local hospital by Life Flight, where he was listed as being in serious condition.
Responding officers said that Miller was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the incident.
According to an addendum press release from the Monroe County Sheriff's office issued Aug. 5, Miller died of his injuries suffered in the crash.
