Motorcyclist hospitalized following SR-2 crash Saturday morning

VERMILION, Ohio — The Sandusky post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury motorcycle crash that happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 22.

According to OSHP, the crash occurred on State Route 2, just west of State Route 60 in Vermilion.

Authorities say the motorcyclist, a 30-year-old Oak Harbor man, was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 westbound on State Route 2 when he he drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a light pole.

Responding officers said the man was ejected from his motorcycle as a result of the collision. OSHP reported that the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Authorities state that the man suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash, and he was life flighted to a hospital in Cleveland.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
