GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Cory Pentoski and his girlfriend Shelby Courson spent their Christmas at the hospital in Grand Rapids, surrounded by family, receiving what they call 'the best Christmas present ever'.
"They had to do an emergency C-section on Christmas Day at 12:33. And that's the second I had the beautiful, most wonderful thing happen to me," said Cory alongside his girlfriend Shelby.
Their daughter Gracie-Lynn is now healthy and at home in Muskegon.
"The baby goes through a lot of diapers, a lot of food," said Cory. "It's a lot of work."
While they're all together now, the same couldn't be said for them two-hours after Gracie-Lynn's birth.
Cory went to a parking ramp to grab something out of the car, but had some trouble getting there.
"I click the button to go to the third floor," said Cory. "And it broke down on me. So stuck in the elevator for three and a half hours in the cold."
After being gone for a bit, his family started to worry.
"I had a phone on me, I just didn't have Wi-Fi and my phone's a Wi-Fi phone," said Cory. "My mom was looking all over Grand Rapids for me."
With that now behind them, Cory and Shelby are now focused on just being good parents.
"Now all I'm worried about is making sure that she's gonna grow up nice and healthy, with the best parents that she could ask for you. To make sure that we're a happy family," said Cory.
