HENRY COUNTY, Ohio — A 90-year-old from Napoleon died in a three-vehicle crash in Henry County Monday afternoon, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a press release.
Harriet Schroeder was driving south on County Road 17D just before 1:30 p.m., about six miles southwest of Napoleon, and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 24. A 38-year-old from Defiance driving a pickup truck behind Schroeder did not maintain enough distance, according to OSHP, and hit Schroeder's vehicle.
Schroeder's vehicle then went into the intersection, where it was struck by a semi-truck traveling westbound on U.S. 24.
Schroeder was pronounced dead at the scene, OSHP said.
The pickup truck driver and the semi-truck driver, a 38-year-old from Ontario, Canada, were treated at the scene.
The crash is under investigation. OSHP said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and everyone involved was wearing seat belts.
