UToledo police looking for person who vandalized new mascot statues, sidewalks

The statues were unveiled last week during homecoming and now have been vandalized with graffiti.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The brand new mascot statues and surrounding sidewalks at the University of Toledo's Centennial Mall were vandalized by an individual early Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The University of Toledo Police Department said the unknown suspect vandalized the area, including the new Rocky and Rocksy statues, between 12:54 a.m. and 1:01 a.m. with red paint, including messages of "ethnic intimidation."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact UToledo police at 419-530-2600.

The mascot statues were unveiled just last week during a homecoming pep rally on campus.
