TOLEDO, Ohio — On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Flag City Honor Flight will be providing a free trip of a lifetime to U.S. veterans in northwest Ohio.
A group of 87 veterans, primarily those who fought in the Vietnam War, will be going to Washington D.C. to visit four war memorials, a ceremony and a celebration that is open to the public in honor of them.
The flight will depart from the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport in the morning and will have a day full of remembrance and celebration:
- 5:30 a.m. - Veterans and guardians arrive at Grand Aire Hangar
- 7:30 a.m. - Depart Grand Aire Hangar for BWI (Baltimore, MD)
- 11:20 a.m. - Tour WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War Memorials
- 3:00 p.m. - Attend Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery
- 8:30 p.m. - Arrive at Grand Aire Hangar and welcome home celebration

This flight is sponsored by Marathon Petroleum, which has been a partner of FCHF for 10 years. MP employees will serve as guardians for the veterans.
Along with sponsoring the flight, MP will host the 2024 Spirit of Freedom 5K Run, Walk, Ruck at their headquarters, 539 S. Main St. in Findlay, on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is open to the community and is organized by the company's veteran employee network.
