Sheriff's office: Man accused of abducting 2-month-old boy in Fairfield County taken into custody

A 2-month-old boy who was at the center of a statewide Amber Alert Tuesday afternoon was found safe, according to Columbus police. The suspect has not been located.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities have arrested a man accused of abducting a 2-month-old boy in Fairfield County, prompting a statewide Amber Alert, was taken into custody on Tuesday.

The Ohio Amber Alert was issued for Caius Burris who was reportedly abducted during a domestic dispute. 

According to the sheriff's office, a woman called 911 saying Russell took off with their child and left her at a business in Lithopolis.

Police said he was found safe in the area of Lachlan Landings Drive in Groveport. The vehicle involved was also found at that location.

Hours after the child was found, the sheriff's office said Russell was taken into custody. Authorities did not say where they found him.

The sheriff's office has not said what charges Russell will be facing.
