Ohio State competing in annual Blood Battle competition against Michigan

The competition began Wednesday and it ends Nov. 27.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State University is participating in what is the 43rd annual "Blood Battle" competition against the University of Michigan.

Ahead of The Game each year, the rival schools compete and donate blood for local patients. Last year, the Buckeyes brought home the win for the second straight year with more than 1,721 pints of blood.

The competition began Wednesday and it ends Nov. 27.

All blood collected by Ohio State directly benefits patients coming to Wexner Medical Center for traumatic injuries, cancer treatment, organ transplant recipients and other medical conditions.

Everyone who donates will receive a limited-edition Blood Battle t-shirt while supplies last.
