Baffled Buckeye fans trying to make sense of loss to Michigan for 4th straight year

After four straight losses to Michigan, some fans called for a change in Ohio State's coaching staff.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — As the game progressed, the moods of Ohio State fans shifted quickly.

Fans were expecting a blowout win against the Michigan Wolverines. As the teams reached a 10-10 tie at halftime, fans were still holding out hope for the second half.

“You know the Buckeyes were supposed to blow them out. And you know right now we are not seeing that,” said Claire Dolan.

But when Michigan scored the final field goal to bring the Maize and Blue to a 13-10 lead late in the fourth quarter, Buckeye fans started to leave the bars on North High Street with time left in the game.

“It was a bad day, everybody has bad days. They had a bad day at the worst time,” said Jesse Caver.

“They didn’t want it. Michigan wanted it a little bit more today. You could see it at the end of the game,” said Caleb Evans.

After four straight losses to Michigan, some fans called for a change in Ohio State's coaching staff.

“Fire Ryan Day,” said Jonathon Winthorpe. “Can’t win the big one.”

Others are standing by their coach.

“Who are you gonna hire that is better? Ryan Day is the man,” Caver said.

Now, fans are hopeful the Buckeyes can bounce back in the playoffs.
