Ohio Turnpike maintenance vehicle struck by car in Wood County

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — An Ohio Turnpike maintenance vehicle was struck by a car Tuesday morning on I-280 in Lake Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the maintenance vehicle was stopped on the southbound shoulder of I-280 at the ramp to the Turnpike with its emergency lights on.

OSHP said a 24-year-old from Elyria drove their Ford Fusion off the right side of the road and struck the maintenance vehicle around 11:52 a.m.

A 40-year-old inside the maintenance vehicle suffered a "possible minor injury" and was treated at the scene. A 29-year-old who was also inside the maintenance vehicle was not injured, according to OSHP.

Troopers said the 24-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Two passengers inside the Ford Fusion were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
