TOLEDO, Ohio — The Ohio Senate Majority Caucus elected three northwest Ohio state senators to positions of leadership in the state's legislative body.
The Majority Caucus elected its leadership team for the 136th General Assembly, which begins in January. This included state senators Rob Mccolley, Theresa Gavarone and Bill Reineke, all of whom represent northwest Ohio.
McColley, a Republican from Napoleon, was elected to serve as the next President of the Ohio Senate.
"I would like to thank my colleagues for the incredible confidence and trust they have placed in me. I would also like to thank my loving wife and family for supporting me in my journey to get to this point," McColley, a UToledo grad, said in the press release.
State Senator Theresa Gavarone, a Republican from Bowling Green, was elected as the assembly's majority floor leader. Gavarone, of Bowling Green, has been in the state senate since 2019 and is currently the body's Majority Whip.
State Senator Bill Reineke, a Republican from Tiffin, will serve as Senate President Pro Tempore. He enters his second term in the Senate beginning in January.
