HICKSVILLE, Ohio — The person who died after a fire Saturday evening at an apartment in the Village of Hicksville has been identified.
The Hicksville Police Department said after receiving a call, the fire department arrived to heavy smoke and flames at the apartments above Subway on West High Street.
Fire crews were able to make their way in and located Neil Bickhard, 77, of Hicksville. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD said other local fire departments assisted with the Hicksville Fire Department, as well as the Defiance County Coroner's Office and Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office. The cause of the fire is unknown and is still under investigation.
