One dead, one injured in early morning crash in west Toledo

Police state that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 1:34 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11 in west Toledo.

According to responding officers, a 42-year-old Holland man was driving southbound on Westwood Avenue when he came to the intersection near Nebraska Avenue.

Authorities state that a second vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old Haskins woman, was driving westbound on Nebraska Avenue, when she ran a red light, colliding with the man's vehicle.

TPD reports that the woman had two additional passengers in her car. Police identified the occupants as a 23-year-old Toledo woman, who sat in the front passenger seat, and a third woman who sat in the back passenger seat.

According to police, all three women in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital. Police report that the driver did not sustain any injuries and the front passenger sustained minor injuries.

TPD states that the back seat passenger, identified as Tupou Fehoko, 22, of Wauseon, died at the hospital due to her injuries sustained during the crash.

Police believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash. No charges have yet been filed.
