FULTON COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — An investigation is underway in Fulton County after one person died in a late-night crash.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. on County Road 24, about a quarter-mile south of State Route 2 in German Township.
The Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Izreal Fonseca, of Napoleon, was driving a Ford Focus when he went over railroad tracks at a high rate of speed and lost control.
Fonseca then went off the roadway, overturned and he and a passenger were ejected from the vehicle.
Fonseca was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger was taken to the hospital by Life Flight with serious injuries.
According to a press release, "safety belts and impaired driving appear to be a factor in the crash."
County Road 24 was closed for approximately 3 hours but has since re-opened.
OSHP reminds motorists to always wear safety belts, and to never drive impaired or distracted.
