21-year-old killed in motorcycle crash, I-75 back open after temporary shutdown

Traffic on I-75 in Wood County is back to normal after being temporarily stopped during the investigation.

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A deadly motorcycle crash on I-75 in Wood County brought traffic to a temporary stop overnight.

The crash happened near Dowling Road and milepost 189 in Perrysburg Township.

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Aaron Gardner was driving his motorcycle southbound on I-75 when he sped up, lost control, and slammed into the back of a semi truck.

Gardner was then thrown from his motorcycle and was hit by another car.

Gardner died at the scene from his injuries. He was wearing a helmet and protective gear at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and drug impairment does not appear to be a factor, according to OSHP.
