ONE Village Council paczki sale not returning in 2023

For the third year in a row, Fat Tuesday will be a little slim for fans of the popular Polish Village tradition.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Fans of Toledo's Polish Village paczki sale will have to find an alternative for the third year in a row.

Fat Tuesday will be a little slim as ONE Village Council has announced the annual paczki sale will not happen in 2023. The north Toledo group sold the sweet treats for 30 years before the pandemic forced a pause on paczki sales in 2021 and again in 2022.

This year's cancellation of the paczki sale is not pandemic-related, a representative with ONE Village Council said. The sale traditionally functioned as a fundraiser for the council to improve neighborhoods in the area.

In 2020, the paczki sale had more than 20,000 customers. The popular pastry would draw people from hours away to Toledo's Polish Village to purchase their paczki.
