Optum healthcare facility in Toledo closing

Optum announced Thursday that they will be permanently closing the location on North Byrne Road, resulting in over 100 jobs lost.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A healthcare facility in west Toledo is closing, resulting in over 100 jobs lost. 

Optum announced Thursday they will be closing the Toledo plant on North Byrne Road. The company said a WARN notice was sent to 129 employees informing them of the closure.

Optum said the separations of the employees affected are expected to occur in three waves, with the last day of employment for impacted employees anticipated to be on one of the following dates:

  • July 15, 2024, or within 14 days thereafter
  • Aug. 16, 2024, or within 14 days thereafter
  • Aug. 23, 2024, or within 14 days thereafter

The company said none of the affected employees are represented by a union and that the closure involves the entire facility and will be permanent.
