Oregon leaders excited for Boomfest 2024, future of annual festival

The event will be held at 3000 Dustin Road, behind the Dunn Chevy dealership, this year.

OREGON, Ohio — The Oregon Boomfest has been moved closer to some area nursing homes for its 2024 iteration, in a change that leaders of nearby Blessed Home Health Care Agency say will be great for the community.

"It's nice to have an event that will pull the community together regardless of your social status, you'll be able to come here and enjoy this event," said Jessica Smith, the agency's director of business development.

The agency is located just minutes away from the new Boomfest location at 3000 Dustin Road, behind the Dunn Chevy dealership. The July 13 event will run from 2 p.m. to midnight.

Jessica Smith says the location change will be great for the community.

Oregon Michael Seferian says the event will have 10 food trucks, three different live bands, including Journey's former lead singer, Steve Augeri, and plenty of entertainment to keep the kids busy.

"To get a headliner, to get your sound, your lights, your back line and the venue and line them all up at the last minute, very difficult," Seferian said. "Oakshade Grove was booked on the days that we could book the other things. It just didn't work out. Dunn Chevy is on Dustin Road in the heart of the center of the city of Oregon, and their back parking lot is twice the size of the parking lot that we held the event on in Oakshade Grove."

One of the best parts about the event that Smith noted is it's free.

"These people can benefit from an event like this, again, it's free, and there will be no cost to the residents who might not otherwise be able to afford to attend something like this," she said. "It'll get them out of their community, get them moving, excited about an event, or give them something to look forward to."

Boomfest started in 2010 and has grown in attendance each year, according to Seferian, who says its year-over-year growth helps attract even more people and popular music acts.

Smith looks forward to the continued growth, too.

"So my hope is that it continues to grow and that it'll remain a staple in this community," she said.
