OREGON, Ohio — The Oregon Branch library will remain closed through October following water damage incurred in August.

According to a press release from the Toledo Lucas County Public Library (TLCPL), the initial water leak had been caused by a plumbing failure. Restoration work will include carpeting, drywall, painting and electrical work.

Those whose voting location is the Oregon Branch will still be able to vote there on Nov. 5, TLCPL said. Voting will take place in the meeting room in the front of the library, which the organization said was not impacted by the water damage.

TLCPL said it appreciated the community's patience, and would provide updates when new information is available regarding the branch's reopening date.

The Aug. 16 water leak damaged the library with clean water, rather than sewage water, a TLCPL spokesperson said in the weeks following the initial incident. Repairs involve replacing carpet, drywall and wood that had water exposure. No collection materials were damaged, they said.
