Oregon schools employee placed on leave as district, police investigates 'communications and personal interactions'

The employee may have violated board policy, according to the Oregon City Schools district.

OREGON, Ohio — An Oregon City Schools employee has been placed on administrative leave because they "may have violated board policy through their communications and personal interactions," the district's associate superintendent said in a letter to the district's families on Friday.

Both the district and Oregon police are conducting investigations, according to the letter from Jim Fritz.

Further details about why the employee is being investigated are not provided. The letter states a high school student notified the district of the matter

"As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, we take any concerns regarding staff conduct very seriously. Please understand that this decision was made to ensure that the investigation is handled with the utmost integrity and to protect the privacy of all parties involved. At this time, we are unable to provide specific details regarding the nature of the investigation, as it is still ongoing," the district said.

"We want to reassure you that the safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. We are taking all necessary steps to address the situation promptly and appropriately. We are also working to ensure that the students' education experience continues smoothly in the interim," the letter goes on to say.
