FINDLAY, Ohio — Multiple occupants of a Findlay City Schools bus suffered minor injuries in a crash involving a pickup truck near I-75 in Findlay Friday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
All students who were on board the bus when it crashed are safe, Findlay City Schools said in a social media post. A Findlay City Schools representative told WTOL 11 that band members were among those on board the bus.
A preliminary investigation showed a Ford pick-up truck, operated by Craig A. Meyers was driving eastbound on U.S. Route 224 when it was struck by a Findlay City School District bus that was exiting from I-75 southbound to US Route 224, operated by Janet K. Routzon, 74, Findlay.
After impact, both vehicles continued down an embankment, went off the left side of the roadway, and onto I-75 southbound before coming to final rest, according to the report from the patrol.
Meyers sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Blanchard Valley Hospital. Four juveniles whom the patrol did not name, along with one adult passenger of the pick-up truck, Ivy McClanahan, 36, also sustained injuries and were take to Blanchard Valley Hospital, the patrol said.
There were 31 students on school bus, three of whom also were taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital with minor injuries, according to the report. Routzon was not injured, the patrol said..
The crash happened on Trenton Avenue at I-75 around 11 p.m. I-75 southbound is closed late Friday night and traffic is being diverted onto Trenton Avenue.
