Ottawa Hills Local Schools announces hire of new district treasurer

Ottawa Hills Local Schools announced on Wednesday that Thomas Siloy has accepted the position of treasurer with the district.

OTTAWA HILLS, Ohio — Ottawa Hills Local Schools announced on Wednesday the hiring of a new district treasurer.

The board of education said that Thomas Siloy has accepted the position of treasurer and chief financial officer with the district.

Siloy joins OHLS after spending nearly a decade as the treasurer and CFO at Old Fort Local School District and Bellevue City Schools. He also worked as an auditor with the Ohio Auditor of State.

The University of Toledo graduate, who received his school treasurer license from Cleveland State University, will oversee the financial operations for OHLS and report directly to the board of education.

The board said that the day-to-day operations of the treasurer's office include payroll, purchasing, state and federal reporting, forecasting, revenues, expenditures and investments.

According to the district, Siloy has been honored with the Ohio Association of School Business Officials Northwest Regional Distinguished Service Award. He was also appointed as chair of the OASBO Education/Finance Committee.

Maara Fink, Ottawa Hills Board of Education president, provided the following statement on the hiring of Siloy:

We are thrilled to have Mr. Siloy taking the helm as the next financial leader of Ottawa Hills Local Schools. Along with a passion for school finance, Tom brings innovative thinking, creative problem-solving, and the expertise necessary to serve as Treasurer/CFO of the district. He will work to restore and ensure the financial health and stability necessary for our schools to continue to provide an exceptional educational experience to every student in the district.

The hiring comes after the resignation of the previous treasurer Bradley Browne after serving 21 years in the position.
