TOLEDO, Ohio — The Victory Center's 8th annual Over the Edge Fundraiser saw more than $200,000 raised to support local cancer patients and their families.

The event invited participants to rappel 16 stories down the side of the Toledo Edison Building - or to climb up it - all while raising funds to support programs and services that benefit cancer fighters and survivors. This year's event raised $208,500.

"Thanks to the dedication of fundraising individuals and the support of corporate sponsorships, The Victory Center continues its mission of providing non-medical services to cancer patients and their loved ones—free of charge," the local nonprofit organization said.

"The Victory Center was founded in 1996 to support and educate cancer patients and those closest to them by providing programs and services aimed at meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those touched by cancer."

At The Victory Center locations in both Toledo and Perrysburg, cancer survivors take part, for free, in massage, reflexology, one-on-one counseling and art therapy, just to name a few programs. There's also a wig bank to help patients look and feel a little more like themselves.
